Photophobic is managed and owned by me, Ben Sellers. The site started as a subdomain of the now defunct apathetica.net in August of 2003. After two years at apathetica, I felt strong enough about my design skills that I decided to go ahead and purchase photophobic.net. Photophobic is hosted by Navigator Internet Solutions in Dallas, TX and has been since August 2005. Their prices are fair and their service is excellent. Photophobic functions as a sort of archive for my thoughts and projects. It also hosts subdomains for some people I know. The design for photophobic has gone through a lot of deaths and rebirths. When hosted on apathetica, the designs were mostly graphical and the content was mostly personal. Since it's move to photophobic.net, this will be it's third redesign. Content is now the focus, but I take a lot of pride in my designs still, especially the backend. Currently, I develop in a Slackware Linux environment. My codebase is primarily xhtml and css, but more recently, perl. My design style is minimalist with a focus on clean aesthetics and robust, modular backend. I also have a strong appreciation for web standards and try and design my pages to accomodate that, rather than a particular browser. My development environment is normally Mozilla Firefox and a wysiwyg text editor, but I also test my pages in Seamonkey, Opera, Internet Explorer, Konqueror, Dillo, and Links to assure quality. I validate my pages using w3c validator also, so if my page looks bad to you, I highly suggest finding another browser. Internet Explorer in particular has a tough time parsing css and, up till version 6.0, displaying PNG's correctly.
Me
My name is Benjamin Sellers. I am 24 years old and am currently living in Central Florida in the Greater Orlando area. I am currently employed as an IT Technician for the E-Z Rent-A-Car company, but also do freelance web design work when I get the opportunity. In my spare time, I like to write music and paint. I have numerous computer related projects in addition to this site. I also have a strong interest in obscure music, philosophy, religion, politics, science-fiction literature, and cult movies. My myers-brigg personality type is INFJ. Below are my *-code's for those who are interested. Here is a semi-recent photo of me.
